The Acton Foundation teacher training process requires a serious time commitment.
To survive the three demanding phases, one must:
Phase I:
- Review introductory reading materials provided by the Acton Foundation.
- Submit a resume and bio.
- Schedule an informational visit with the Acton Foundation's Outreach Director to discuss the applicant's long-term goals as an Acton Foundation teacher.
Phase II:
- Read all materials and case method books provided by the Acton Foundation.
- Observe a case discussion.
- Attend one Acton Foundation Master Teaching Seminar or a Harvard, Price-Babson, Syracuse or Ivey case teaching workshop.
- Sign the Acton Foundation curriculum license contract.
Phase III:
- Submit a practice case preparation note for review by an Acton Foundation Master Teacher.
- Schedule a consultation with an Acton Foundation Master Teacher.
- Prepare a version of the student contract for review by the Acton Foundation.
- Upon completion of these three phases, the Director of Outreach will schedule a visit to discuss the course materials and train the teacher on the Master Teacher File online system.
