FEE Offers Teacher Seminar for Case Teachers
05/01/2006
Austin, Texas (May, 2006) – On May 19, the Foundation for Entrepreneurial Excellence hosted a group of entrepreneurship case teachers from across the nation to participate in a case teaching seminar. With almost one hundred years of collective experience teaching by the case method, the teachers at FEE are poised to help others learn the art of discussion leadership.
The seminar is lead by a core group of FEE Master Teachers who are veterans of teaching entrepreneurship by the case method. They include Jack Long, the co-founder of Lone Star Overnight; Steven Tomlinson, executive communications coach and award winning theater artist; and Jeff Serra, former Chairman, President, and CEO of Phibro Energy, among others.
Eddie Edwards, a FEE teacher at the University of Oklahoma’s Price School of Business, said: “FEE’s teacher training helped prepare me to teach using the case method. The materials, guidance, and seminars continue to improve my skills each and every term.”
Also a FEE teacher, Dr. Nancy Kucinski, who currently teaches at Hardin Simmons University, said that “the FEE seminars were an integral part of my development as a case teacher. Guiding the students to their own discoveries has helped me break out of the tired old power-point lecture approach.”
The annual teaching seminar is just one way that FEE helps entrepreneurship case teachers. FEE recently announced that its flagship course “Entrepreneurial Journey” is available for export. To license the curriculum, would-be teachers go through a distance training process that includes case teacher materials from Harvard Business School and FEE, and culminates with a consultation with a FEE master teacher.
