Collegiate Network, an organization supporting independent college newspapers, recently became the newest national organization to participate in the Acton Foundation's Take an Entrepreneur to Lunch (TAETL) program.

Collegiate Network members join the ranks of other aspiring entrepreneurs in programs already participating in TAETL, including the Collegiate Entrepreneurs Organization and the Race to BE contest recently held in association with Global Entrepreneurship Week.

The participation of Collegiate Network will add to the TAETL program nearly 1,500 student journalists at over 100 independent newspapers from colleges and universities across the country. While any aspiring entrepreneur is invited to participate in the TAETL program, the student journalists who enter into the Collegiate Network competition are eligible to win grants not only for themselves, but for their school newspaper as well.

In order to be considered for the competition, the student journalists must write and have published an article describing a lunch meeting with their entrepreneurial hero. The student must cover certain topics laid out in the TAETL guidelines, including the details of their nominee's entrepreneurial ventures, struggles and challenges, and learnings on business and life. The contestant must also explain their reasons for nominating their entrepreneurial hero.

The best submitted articles could receive up to $2,000 for the student journalist and $500 for the school's publication. Members of the Collegiate Network organization can submit their 800-1,200 word article until March 13, 2009, at collegiatenetwork.org .

About Collegiate Network: For more than 25 years, the Collegiate Network (CN) has supported independent college newspapers that serve to focus public awareness on the politicization of American college and university classrooms, curricula, student life, and the resulting decline of educational standards. CN member papers have earned reputations for both in-depth reporting and witty commentary. They serve to raise the level of discourse on the campus and provide an outlet for students to keep university faculty and administrations honest.
